2. ____many copper mines in the state of Arizona, a fact which contributes significantly to the state's economy.
           a) They are
           b) There are
           c) Of the
            d) The
key: b how about c ?

3. Insulation from cold,( protect) aganist dust and (sand), and camouflage( are) among the (functions) of hair for animals.
key: a

4. Any critic, teacher, librarian, or poet who hoprs to broaden poetry's audience faces the difficult challenge of persuading skeptical readers____.
             a) the poetry is important today
              b) for poetry is important today
              c) to be important poetry today
             d) poetry that is important today
key: a how about c ?
注意pursuade 用法: persuade sb to do something, 或者 persuade sb that +宾语从句,答案C显然不是正确用法.

5. A mirage is an (atmospheric) optical illusion (in what) an observer sees a nonexistent body of water( or) an image of some (object).
key: b how about d ?

6. Exploration of the Solar System is (continuing), and at eht present rate of (progress) all the planets will have been contacted( within) the( near )50 years.
key: d
这里用near 不适当,虽然词性正确但是意思不对,应改成coming(不过这题的改法我不是很确定)

7. Since (their )appearance on( farms) in the United States between 1013 and 1920 , trucks( have changed )patterns of production and (market) of farm products.
key: d

8. Antique collecting (became) a significant pastime in the 1800's( when )old (object) began to be (appreciated for )their beauty as well as for their historical importance.
key: c

      第一题A 应该是as on

       d) so soft the carbon
key: c how about a?

     4. Henry David Thoreau was (an )American writer who (is) remembered (for) his faith in the religious significance of (the nature).
key: d

key: a

1. Rainbows in the shape of (complete circles )are (sometimes seen) from airplanes because they (are not cutting) off by the( horizon).
key: c

       2. The Alaskan blackfish exhibits___to both extreme cold and low concentrations of oxygen under the ice.
       a) remarkable, and resistance
       b) remarkable, resistant
       c) remarkably, resistant
       d) remarkable resistance
key: d

       3. If a diamond is heated without oxygen, it will turn to graphite, a form of ___that it is used as a lubricant.
       a) carbon is so soft
       b) is carbon so soft
       c) carbon so soft
       d) so soft the carbon
key: c how about a?

     4. Henry David Thoreau was (an )American writer who (is) remembered (for) his faith in the religious significance of (the nature).
key: d

      5. (During )early nineteenth-century Boston, the (architect )Charles Bulfinch, eagerto make the city beautiful, sometimes( provided) free plans for people building (homes).
key: a

这题较有争议,其实它要求 the 之后有个 the,就是 During the early…。

      6. Throughout her (career), Ceorigia O'Keeffe( paid) meticulous attention to her craft; her brushes( were always )clean, her colors fresh and (brightness).

      7. Brown rice has (great )nutritional value than white rice because the nutrient-rice outer( layers) of the rice kernel (are) not removed (from) brown rice.
key: a

      8. Richard Wright enjoyed success and influence___ among Black American writers of his era.
      a) were unparalledled
      b) are unparalleled
      c) unparalledled
       d) the unparalleled
key: c

A和D有 were 和 are,表明前面是 unparalleled 的所指,如说 his greatness and inflence were unparalleled,his influence and success are unparalleled。

119.( Although) copper was hammered into tools
and ornaments (by) some early inhabitants
of North America, the smelting and casting
of copper (were) unknown (between) them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
between ----> for , 这题类似第90题, be known for , be unknown for

132. The concept (of folk) music, (though) generally
understood by (most) people, has (not) simple,
     widely accepted definition.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
not ----> not a, 主语The concept,谓语动词has均为单数

134. Independence Hall (in) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
is (where) the Declaration of Independence (also) the
United States Constitution( were signed)

------------------------------------------------------------------------
also ----> and ,此处根据题意用连词and, the Declaration of Independence 和 the
United States Constitution

137. Working (by) chemical reaction, and being
(independence) of atmospheric oxygen, rockets are
used (to power) interplanetary (space) vehicles.

test 2
29. Penicillin, ________, kills a broad spectrum of bacteria,
many of which cause disease in humans.

athe first antibiotic to be discovered
bwhen the first antibiotic to be discovered
        cthe first antibiotic that discovered
dwas the first antibiotic to be discovered
a和C都可以啊,为啥是A

C 应该为”the first antibiotic that was discovered" 定于从句省略时要把从句引导词和be动词一起省略,而且只有在从句动词为be时才可以省略。

Lactose,( a) sugar( present) in milk, is one ( of simple) sugars used in (food)
    preparations for infants.

1、主张A的人觉得:应该是 A KIND OF, 表示一种
2、主张C的人觉得::应该是 one of the simple sugars

one of simple sugars
one of the simple sugars
