Darden Class 2010 & 2011 taking questions

hi everybody

I've got a very serious problem, that my GPA caculated based on the scores gained within china is 3.7, which didn't included my scores gained in Japan when I was exchanged there for one year.

How should I deal with this? should I send two academic transcrips?

相信很多选校中或者取舍中的人看了你的帖子会对Darden更加心仪。。我刚考完G，但是申请什么学校还没有决定，想听听你的意见：

1）Darden学费+生活费两年大约花费一共有多少？奖学金数量如何？多少人可以拿到呢？

2）你在另外一篇帖子里提到“DUKE和ROSS都是很好的学校，不过侧重还是比较明显的。”不知道你所指的是不是Darden侧重case study，或者有其他意思？

3）我关注Darden是因为一个美国朋友的推荐，他是一家MNC的CHINA CFO。他对中国人对top 10趋之若鹜很不理解，也觉得意义不大，他觉得我应该去性价比高的学校，比如Darden。我做了5年外资商业银行，MBA毕业后想做general management或者继续finance。你觉得Darden是一个好的选择么？

4）看完你们的帖子我的印象是Darden对于中国人最大的挑战是用全英文参与全案例课程。在以前的培训中我有类似的经历，深知其中的尴尬。我还算国人中口语不错的，但都会觉得常常力不从心。我想问问learning team里的teammate之间合作愉快么？是否竞争激烈?互相帮助多么？当然，这个挑战也是Darden吸引我的原因，因为我相信能survive的人，以后的工作中肯定会得心应手。

我不是打算申请Darden,我在UVa的McIntire读MS, 上课发言占30%, 无数的group project,我经常听不懂美国人在说啥,上课也发不了言,想死的心都有了......我一直很好奇Darden的中国学生是怎么handle的?

我们来之前就知道这里是case method。 McIntire是很不错的本科商学院啊， 听说排名全美第一，比我们高多了。我们基本上都在外企工作过5年左右的时间，而且很多都是mgr level的，所以听说会有点基础。我个人也有听不懂的时候，有时候他们会讲一些美国文化的事情和人物，就好像我们在国内说宋丹丹赵本山一样。有的美国人讲话的时候嘴里象含着一口水，需要仔细听。我们很多课发言占40% - 50%，所以不发言是很吃亏。这个也没什么捷径， 一定要多说。不要害怕说错，美国人讲的废话的也很多，每次你不想发言的时候就想想，老子也交了一样的学费。。。

Drifty, hi, terry again..I know the question sounds stupid but still wants to ask..(心有不甘..）

...got gmat 700 today...do you think this will jeopardize my chances to get admitted...?

Workong almost 60 hours a week, it is harder than i thought to get a decent score with spare times...sigh...

BTW，i will start preparing my package after national holidays and aim at apply in R2.

Do you think should I emphysize in my essay, such as enterpreur experiences ? What does your adcom want to read,,,?

Darden does not offer any concentrations. We are a general management school; all of our students graduate with an MBA in General Management. Some of our alumni, however, chose to apply their MBAs to careers in the Sustainability and Social Enterprise sectors. For more information on what Darden offers, the student should refer to our website: http://www.darden.virginia.edu/html/standard.aspx?menu_id=634&styleid=2&id=19742 There the applicant will find a link under Academic Areas to “Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Ethics” and under Resources to Get Involved to “Sustainability and Social Enterprise.”
