in the most powerful and advanced information technology available, employee
productivity will be maximized. This strategy ensures that every dollar spent
on enhanced information technology will help to increase our firm’s profit

1. Insufficient definition in the argument.

    Information technology has become the common tool in the office to be a useful assistant, better hardware and             software can not conclude that the perfoemance must be improved due to tools are dependant on the people to manipulate.

   People are the main key to enable the operation of the system (hardware and software), not system itself.

  Take software engineer as an example: development tool can expedite the running perfroemce, but can not expedite engineer's brain

2. The working hour is defined from the government, to seek for the working smart will be worth than to seek for faster      information technology.

   Working smart with better communication is the key to upgrade the performance in office

3. Keep pursuing the information technology would make the internal workflow instable since every new system would incorporate the new features or new functions, hence to do adjustment is necessary

human resources department at a major automobile manufacturing company to the
company's managers:

    

“Studies have found that employees of not-for-profit
organizations and charities are often more highly motivated than employees of
for-profit corporations to perform well at work when their performance is not
being monitored or evaluated. Interviews with employees of not-for-profit
organizations suggest that the reason for their greater motivation is the
belief that their work helps to improve society. Because they believe in the
importance of their work, they have personal reasons to perform well, even when
no financial reward is present. Thus, if our corporation began donating a
significant portion of its profits to humanitarian causes, our employees’
motivation and productivity would increase substantially and our overall
profits would increase as well.”

請問 這題是說 公司只要投入錢到公益事業 就會激勵員工？

2. Improvement in a firm's IT hardware and software might not improve the efficiency of employees who do NOT do the majority work on computers;

3. Even if heavy investment in IT area can improve efficiency, this method might not be useful for this company (major advertising firm);

4. Even if efficiency is improved, this strategy cannot sufficiently ensure profit (economic recession and other factors can hamper such strategy);

有一点疑问，请赐教：以下这题的protect information的protect是指信息过分收集还是指严防信息泄露呀，觉得两者还蛮不同的。

国家是不是应该为了preserve national security 而protect any information 它认为是很重要的……

１．现在很多恐怖主义terrorism 危害公共安全，　政府的职责是保护公共安全，这涉及到收集很多信息，但是信息过分收集又会让每个公民缺少安全感
                

２．不同的国家对国家安全的界定不同，　因此也对什么是有用的信息的界定不同。如果由政府决定什么信息是必要的，　政府可能滥用这个权利，并把其他目的的信息收集都归结为国家安全，这反而会影响公共安全
                

３　信息泄密很常见，如果政府把收集的信息泄密的话反而会危害公共安全
                

４　所以要有明确的标准，　清晰的监管和完善的信息保密措施
