答案是B，不是很理解。B中which    was    recently    discovered,    from    the    licorice    plant,    50    times    sweeter    than    sucrose,感觉很不爽。


我选了C，想请问：C中的which是否可以指代A    substance    呢？以前记得看过类似的例子，是可以的，请大家指点

         答案是E，我觉得E中virtually修饰存在歧义，可修饰remained和unchanged，这个不如A好，在时态的角度考虑，为什么前面用过去时态，后面用完成时态？
我觉得declined    steadily    是一个过程，用完成时态好。请教大家

1 decline 已经结束，不应用现在完成时。


2 virtually remained：好像没有保持，和句意矛盾，
         E中，virtually修饰unchanged，不是修饰remained。

         时态上还是有点想不通，第8题为什么前面用过去，后面用完成？？

现在完成时态表示的是：过去某点开始，到现在的一个延续的动作。（这点不是绝对的，但延续性动作有此意。）此句后面的the next three months, 表明前面的first six months 的动作已经结束。

     感谢bryony的解答，我有个疑惑：


first six months 的动作已经结束不能表示这个动作并非不是延续的动作，我觉得decline这个动作发生于过去，持续一段时间six months，而不是在过去一点发生的（过去时态），所以应该用完成时态
