我把句子化简了，看起来会容易点：The hognose snake puts on an impressive bluff, but it has no dangerous fangs and no venom, and eventually, will fall over and play dead.

（hissing and rearing back, broadening the flesh behind its head the way a cobra does and feigning repeated strikes）这部分是impressive bluff的同位语，由一个三项并列“doing A, doing B and doing C“组成

（if its pursuer is not cowed by the performance, ）插入语，没啥说的

这个逗号+and的规则其实很弱的，而且but后面接句子主语不一定要省，but前面那么长插入语，我觉得省略it理解上会很吃力。你说呢？

这个解释满意不？我得在考试前把Prep看完
