Yes I did use three examples to show three aspects of me. Aside from the patent, I wrote about a spot club I organized in university (to show energy and initiative), and I wrote about a community service activity    that I'm involved in (to show care for the society and willingness to give back).

Or maybe what's the best strategy to write the describe-self essay? I found no
essay tutorial talking about describe-self essay, so I don't know what are the
appropriate(read: best) contents to be included.    
I don't really know what's the best strategy    for this essay. I've heard people sending in drawings or handcrafts to show their creativeness, but I'm not good    at them. I guess that's more impressive compared to my plain    text. However you need to    be good at it.    

Oh, sorry, one FINAL question: What did you put in the optional essay and what are
the best contents to include?(We know something not covered in other essays, but what?)

I explained my low GPA (3.0) -- the activities that I was involved in and the part time jobs I had. You don't have to put in something in the optional essay, it's mainly for you to address issues/concerns that adcom may have.

In your essay, what's you short term career goal? What position you'll be looking for after graduation? You said in the previous post that you will focuse on finance, management and entreprenuership, but they are vastly different majors, how can you relate them together to help you fullfill your career goal?

I just withdrem my WL. Kind of upset after travelling all the way to NY, taking an excellent class(the professor is awesome, both inside and outside) and had the lunch with current student.


Hopeful anybody who is a stronger fit and a greater lover of Stern could fill my spot.

Yes they are different fields, but since I'm interested in running a financial software company, it's not too hard to combine finance, product management, and entreprenuership together. Different people have different career goals, you don't have to tie finance with your career goal if it's not applicable. Also, it's not a must (I believe ), to get into NYU or other schools with finance strength.
