I just called sloan and wharton. the sloan lady confirms the loan for intl. students without a co-signer is gone... the wharton lady says i'm still encouraged to apply but the policy is subject to change...
I am emailing to update you on a recent change in the Ross CitiAssist Loan Program. This is the program that provided a guaranteed loan to our international students. I regret to inform you that the Ross CitiAssist Loan program will be terminated, effective November 2, 2008. Under the terms of our contract with Citibank, they have the right to terminate the contract by giving thirty days notice. Late last week, citing current market conditions, they exercised that right.
Please note the University of Michigan CitiAssist Loan program is not affected and remains a resource available to all students. International students may borrow through the University of Michigan CitiAssist Loan program using a U.S. citizen or permanent resident cosigner: http://www.bus.umich.edu/admissions/financialaid/loans/Private.htm
As an entering Winter student, you probably have not completed a loan application. Citibank has confirmed that they will allow Ross to continue processing Ross CitiAssist loans for a limited time period.
You should immediately submit your Ross CitiAssist loan application for processing. Priority deadline date for MSCM students is October 22, but you are encouraged to submit the loans as soon as possible.
