我是这样理解的。是说tree trunk 用来做lumber,branches用来做chips

在logging site和factory用的成本是一样的

wood chips occupy less than half the volume of the branches from which they are made.说明branch做成wood chips后体积小一半多。而体积越小运费越小（D选项）。说明在

方案一  在loggin site做好运到factory(费用为成本+运费一（less than half the volme)）

方案二  从logging site运到factory再做成chips（费用为成本+运费二(the whole volume))

中显然一比二省钱。选D 我是这样理解的，不知道对不对，欢迎讨论！
