请教两道语法题

the answer is A

2.In 1989 Jane Addam, a social worker in Chicago, founded Hull House, an (institution) (devoted) to the (improvement) of community life in poor (neighborhood).
the answer is B

哪位高手可以指点一下，为什么说它错？谢了

应该是 is concerned..

concern的用法:

sb./sth. be concerned with

concern oneself with

the answer is B

我不觉得B有问题.. 反而倒是D错了.. neighborhood这个词一般都用做可数名词.. 尤其是和in 搭配时.. 这里前面又没有冠词.. 所以我认为D应该是复数 neighborhoods..

concern的用法倒是以前没有注意过，多谢提醒。
第二个以前好像看到过，应该是D

be concerned with应该是固定用法吧 ，如果后面不加with,      sth. concern sb/sth.是不是也能用呢？但意思是不是不大一样？
另外再问一道语法题：
A patrilineal （extended） family consists （of core） group of males, their （wives）, （and） their unmarried daughters.
答案b,我虽然也看着b别扭，但说不出到底问题在哪，望指教

先回答第一个问题:

A is concerned with B.  A担心B

B concerns A.  B令A担心

这两个是一个意思的不同表达方式而已.

第二个问题:

B 应该是: of a core

少了一个冠词而已. 因为group是可数名词, 以单数形式存在时, 前面需要有冠词或者代词.

多谢指教，看来我对单数可数名词前面一定要加冠词这点老是忽略，考试中要注意
