Hi, jelt2359:

Do you know what's advantage and disadvantages as a E.E. Ph.D. for applying business degree? For example,is the age too old? Does the work experience of a pure technology (a research engineer, with several patents, in wireless communication product; got a Ph.D degree with several papers on IEEE Top academic magzines) help application?  

What points does Wharton appreciate the candidate from the technical background?

Sincerely I want to apply for Wharton, yet here is my concern:

1, Am I too old?
    

I'm 32 now, and I have 8 years working experience, including 1+ year enterprenuership.

2, Am I competative to working applicants?
    

Since I had a 1 year old boy and I don't have my parents or parents in law to take care my children, I had to quit my job 1 year ago, and during this time, I have been a full time mother.But I have been a very sharp leader before.

3. Is my TOFEL score a drawback for me? I have 108 in IBT. I heard Wharton will not encourage lower-than-110 to apply?

4. This is my most important question related to my essay. My self sketch is "Survivor". As I always like challenge, and I enjoy "making through from bottom up"... So the question is "Does this sketch fit the culture of Wharton". As I did not have the normal career route...so I wonder weather it's a strengh or weakness...

Below is my background: Female, No International experience, Main land Chinese passport holder.

GMAT 720. IBT: 108. GPA 2.67(this is not fair, as I had secondary scholarship for 2 years, and I won competition in 4th year... but I fail 3 politics-related subjects)

BA degree 1995-2000. Tong Ji University  Industrial Design

4 years in Media (Marketing&Sales) Business as team leader or business operator

1 year enterprenuership (had a PR Company)

3 years in Fortune 500 US company (Consulting Service) as Branch Manager.

2008.4 till now is a full time mother. (Personally I think it's a great job, but I know the society in China doesn't evaluate such contribution from women, I can only feel sad about it, but I don't want to hide this experience).

My family will move to US next year since my husband will be relocated. So I will be able to visit schools and join F2F interviews... but honestly I have left myself no way out on the path of applying MBA. So I sincerely need your kind advice.And I will apply for Round 1.  If I'm told by Whartons that I'm too weak, I will save my time for the best hit.

偶是第一次申请，想在这里请教一个关于寄送成绩的问题。

本科成绩单：成绩单毕业的时候就开好了。但是申请过程汇中，看到notice说：用self-report的成绩开始evaluation..然后下面紧
跟着一句，“However, offers of admission are not binding until official
transcripts are submitted and verified.”
这句话是说，本科成绩还是要寄的，还是说现阶段不用寄，有了offer之后再提交呢？？如果要寄的话，是不是要赶在那一轮的dealine之前让学校收到
才行呢？请大家指点下！
2. G/T成绩：还是看到了上面引号中的那句话，问题如上。

Here is a question about fellowship.  When should we kick off applying it?

 

I just happened to read following in S2S section.  Does it mean applicant doesn’t need to work on fellowship essay until he/she is admitted?  Hope it would be yes, since I would like to focus on admission essay by Oct 1.

 

"...the fellowship application is submitted AFTER you have applied and been accepted at Wharton..."

Hi, I have a question about the course: I know Wharton is famous for its world-class and systemic finance training, does it have any courses or programs about non-profit organizations? I haven't found any more information except for WIVP from the website.
