打逗号是一个讨厌的东西，因为要先分辨是不是插入语。这一题的circling应该不是修饰Jupiter。因为circle 很多stars的主体应该是复数吧，单数很奇怪。

前几天看到有人发帖讲到分词片语(限-ed)，打逗号是修饰前一个名词，加上看到前人的帖子也有此说法，由考题可看出都是which is V-ed改来的。

我再仔细理解一下你的意思，根据你的意思,我是不是可以这么理解，对于有插入语的句子，“，”是为插入语部分服务的，也就是说，

In the past several years, astronomers have detected more than 80 massive planets（, most of them as large or larger than Jupiter, )circling other stars.

在括号意外的内容，是插入之前的内容？也就是认为cicling是直接跟着planets的?

其实到底分词短语后置修饰主句主语还是后置的前面一个名词，在考试当中经常出现。。

按照这题，就是ing修饰前面的贴近的名词。。

但是很多的也是作为前面的伴随状语。。应该都行得通的吧？

通过逻辑判断，astronomers 这么可能比 Jupiter, 大呢?

加“，”后再+ving形式 这个是不修饰临近名词的，只有去掉逗号才是修饰临近名词的，加了逗号要么是伴随前面谓语动词的状态、方式等，这里要和主句逻辑主语一致，要么就是伴随结果，和主语无关，可以不一致。
