题干说的是：delayed gratification 出现在一番辛苦的劳动后。即我们常说的先苦后甜。但是这种观念已经不能再现在的幼儿成长经历中得到培养。然后他举了个例子来证明，比如说之前小孩子得到的玩具（积木？），都是盒子里面乱作一团，需要辛苦的拼好后才可以(play).而现在他们得到的玩具都是已经拼好了放在盒子里--言下之意，不用经过那番先苦后甜的拼拼装装的过程就是玩了。

所以最直接的一个assumption,就是说先前那段先苦后甜的经历是发生在一个小孩子身上。否则delayed gratification就得不到体现。
