hong kong is not better off than nyc in terms of life style. trust me, you wont have time to enjoy life when working in finance in hong kong. i personally dislike these two places. no comment on san fran since i never worked there. but the weather of bay area is hard to beat, though san fran is bit colder and more windy. back to your question, it really depends on what you want. if you want to climb the career ladder faster, and fight your way quicker in the IB jungle, then immediately get on local experience is not a bad idea. but the thing is there might be tons of returning chinese who think just alike you. it is harder and harder to stand out... remember, in general, hong kong is a place where American education and experience is highly valued. if you are bored of IBD in hong kong some day, your wall street experience could open you many doors. |
