phd毕业，该到哪里去教书？

这是一老话题，但还是想听听大家的意见，phd毕业，in business, 如果想做教授，去一个research-oriented university,  到哪里去比较好呢？

我所知道的，无外乎三种去向（一家之言）：

1.USA, advantages: good money, excellent research and living environment, fair competition along tenure track, high social recognization, good place to educate kids

  Disadvantages: Far away from homeland, parents, gf, bf,..... alien atmosphere, high taxes, tough competition;

2.Hongkong, Singapore: advantages: even better money, good research facilities, close to homeland,      many Asian faces, respected, amiable living environment;

Disadvantages: too expensive to  buy a decent house, a  little discrimination to people from mainland, hierarchy in deparment ;

3. Top schools in China:

Advantages: near parents&relatives,  high social status, familiar atmosphere, lucrative to give lectures to MBAs, be able to speak native language;

disadvantages: not too bad money,  research environment is not so satisfying, bad living environment, competitive environment for kids, the way to get tenure is not so fair.

I think the housing in Singapore is not that bad and people there are really nice.

Oh, really. but I heard from one of my friends that people there are not so friendly to people from China, though almost half of the population are from China. I don't know if that is true.

恩，可能是我在新加坡呆的时间不长，也许认识有偏差。

我在新加坡做过半年的短期培训，然后出差几次，发现那边同事对我很好。

甚至连偶然认识的主要对手公司的人员也对我不错，不是官面上那种，就是纯个人的。

Not every top U get vacancy designed exclusively for us every year. Time is crucial.

Maybe decide now is a little too early, you never know what will happen 5 years later.

I vote for US but the location will count

Get a job first in the US. And then go back to HK or mainlaind if you want.

Singapore hold strong discrimination on Mainland Chinese, no matter how good you are. We have a professor graduated from MIT and stayed in Singapore for many years, he became a little strange..... Don't go there if you are not sure you can behave super than them..... Just bias maybe. I stayed there for half year.
