Roles and Responsibilities

• Understanding market opportunities and competitive situations to determine product positioning and product roadmap
• Work closely with cross-functional teams during the entire product life cycle (product definition through discontinuance) to influence whole product direction.
• Acts as a business problem solver by analyzing market, economic, competitive and customer trends and works with product development teams to maximize business results
• Designs, creates & maintains processes for the analysis of data
                          
• Creates high quality internal-facing marketing collateral, including presentations and databases  which will provide guidance to stakeholders on devising effective and efficient approaches to achieving the business *ives
• Identifies and resolves ambiguities in business direction

It sounds pretty good. Usually business analyst role is an entry level position for you to learn a lot about the company. You will be gaining a lot of exposure of some of the core skills that an financial analyst needs. From there you can move to commercial banking or IB since they actually like people who has industry experience.

Just my two cents...

commercial bank and investment bank prefer quite different candidate.  for IB, I don't think industry experience is valued for junior positions.
