Investment banks often have conflicting roles.  They sometimes act for a client company by raising capital from other investment institutions as advantageously as possible, but their analysts also sometimes send unfavorable reports on the financial health of companies for whom they are raising capital to other clients who wish to make investments.  Analyses of companies’ financial health need to be unbiased if an investment bank is to achieve long-term success.

If the statements above are true, which of the following practices, if adopted by an investment bank, would hinder its long-term success?

  1. Evaluating and rewarding the bank’s analysts on the basis of recommendations made by managers who are solely engaged in raising capital for clients
  2. Using reports by the investment bank’s analysts to determine how best to raise capital for a client
  3. Sharing the task of raising capital for a client with other investment banks
  4. Ensuring that conflicts between analysts and those who raise capital for clients are carefully mediated and resolved by impartial arbitrators
  5. Monitoring the success or failure of analysts’ current predictions about how companies will perform financially, in order to determine the value of future predictions

是A

A) Paris / her home     it   我不觉得REDUNDANT ,it 好象也没错.

B) aris her home

57.      Affording strategic proximity to the Strait of Gibraltar, Morocco was also of interest to the French throughout the first half of the twentieth century because they assumed that if they did not hold it,
their grip on Algeria was always insecure.

(A)         if they did not hold it, their grip on Algeria was always insecure

(B)         without it their grip on Algeria would never be secure

(C)        their grip on Algeria was not ever secure if they did not hold it

(D)        without that, they could never be secure about their grip on Algeria

(E)         never would their grip on Algeria be secure if they did not hold it

C        The verb was should be the conditional would be; pronoun it is ambiguous and could  refer to either Morocco or Algeria 但是很显然Algeria是on's object,在102题中说是代词不能做direct object

102. Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, capitalized on her keen observation and love of the  natural world.

(A) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives,

(B) In her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, Beatrix Potter

(C) In her book illustrations, which she carefully coordinated with her narratives, Beatrix Potter

(D) Carefully coordinated with her narratives, Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrationsC

(E) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinated them with her narratives and

E的解释:Them cannot refer to book illustrations because the plural noun is the object of the preposition in.

59. His studies of ice-polished rocks in his Alpine homeland, far outside the range of present-day glaciers, led Louis Agassiz in 1837 to propose the concept of an age in which great ice sheets' existed in now currently temperate areas.

(B) in which great ice sheets existed in what are now temperate areas

(C) when great ice sheets existed where there were areas now temperate

答案B。

关于C,OG的解释是: where there were areas now temperate  is wordy and confusing 。
