不止一次碰到这个问题，举个例子：

 

31. “Financial gain should be the most important factor in choosing a career.”

 

很常见的一个题目。

My view: Yes, money is important, but not the most important. There are other important things to consider when applicants choose a career such as training opportunities, company culture fit and career path etc.

How to expand on the main body?

Option 1: Why money is not the most important, because reason 1, 2, 3...

Option 2: Money is important... list reasons.

               Training opportunites is also important... list reasons....

               Company culture fit is important... list reasons....

               Career paths is important... list reasons.....

 

哪个更好？ETS评分的时候会不会认为option 2是跑题了，因为后面几段都不在讲money，而是把题目generalize成what is more important when deciding a caree？

 

麻烦大家给我一点建议, 题目的侧重点如何把握，是否可以generalize 题目讨论的范围？

I favor for Option 1, but I feel that Option 1 and 2 are a little bit tantamount with each other, because the reason in Option1 is what? is just what you listed here in Option2.In essence, I think the two are the same, but I recommend you to take the form of Option1.

As far as I am concerned, the reaons for option 1 could be:
1) money is not the most important because it will dilute our focus of what the job can bring us...
2) money is not the most important because there are other things to consider (we can talk about training,   career path... together in this paragraph)
3) money is not the most important because.... (another reason perhaps?)

So the article WILL be a bit different since you are addressing different purposes.

1) For Option 1, the purpose is to explain why you think money is not the most important.
2) For Option 2, the purspose is to address an open question what is the most important when choosing a career.  

Any more inputs from others to confirm this? Merci!
