There are two reasons for the the elective office to be subsidized with public funds 1。allow politicians to devote less time to fund-raising thus giving campaigning incumbents more time to serve the public 2。reduce by setting caps on individual campaign contributions the possibility that elected officialsd works for the benefit of the individual large contributors.
however, according to the critic:the more the caps constrain contributions(2。), the more time candidates have to spend finding more small contributors(1。).
therefore, the two results contradict each other.
