not in. in了也不见得就飞,not in也没有失去什么。

Sorry to hear that bad news,

Your problem is simple and obvious - an egotist. Looks back all your threads here, you're boastful to the point of being obnoxious. You have only one string to your conversational violin, namely, youself, and on it you play a number of monotonous variations. What you think, what you have done, how good you are, how you would solve the problems of the world, ect. I bet, besides your house square feet and car, what's next? How much money you're making? What's your latest amorous conquest?

One thing for sure, Wharton looking for a team builder, not egotistic. Your philosophy strikingly conflicks with Wharton's.

However, I do wish you a good luck to HBS.

I do appreciate your sentence above.

wxh7314,
I am sorry to hear the bad news. comfort. The application is the the procedure to look back on your life and growing up. I think cthd007 did point out some of your weakness. Maybe you did not show your best work in your essays, or you and Wharton just do not match each other. I know how painful to accept this result, not because of money, but your time, your energy, and your hope. Ding from Wharton does not mean you can not be a successful business leader. If you are really interested in Wharton, you may find some chance to visit the campus and talk with students and faculties to learn more about it and try next year.

ctfd007:

Sfish:
It is not painful. One thing I gained from the application is to accept the unpleasant outcome and to focus on what we still can do in the future.

Only thing i'm wondering is that -

I admire you for your sincere comments. Thank you really. I understand you warned me not to drop into egoism and egotism. I will never do that.

My principle is to be a true man and to do true things. I just want to telll the friends in this forum what was going on my mind and what I experienced during the journey of application. I don't mean to boast about myself. I want to be an inspiring element to those friends who are working hard in the process. As you know, one drawback of Chinese education is to act like a harsh judge who will never let you feel good about yourself. I suffered a lot by judging myself strictly in the past.

But it is after I became a member of Chasedream that I began to appreciate my positive aspects and to notice what I am good at. It is  a wonderful change of perspective. I hope you can understand the struggle between the western life phylosophy and the Chinese way of life outlook, which most of us experience every minute in our steps of chasing dream.

You are my friend!

Yours earnestly
Wu Xinghua

cthd007:
WITH REGRET TO INFORM ME。

wxh7314 brother, sorry to hear your unanticipated outcome from Wharton. I believe lots of our members here all very appreciate your kindness for sharing your valuable experience. I also am very happy to know that you started to look at same issues from different prespective after joining our Chasedream forum.

Wharton just wants to pick up a name into its class, however you put your true heart to Wharton. All in all, you have to realize this is the type of game your have to play. I'm sure you will adjust yourself tomorrow and head to your bright future.

If you really want to know "why?", the simplest answer is: there is some other Chinese applicants in your pool outperformed you in this game. Could be many reasons:
1) someone who visited campus and had really nice contact with school;
2) your academic part (710 and maybe your weak response during interview);
3) your English skill;
4) your lacking of international experience;
5) someone from same background with you (government?) has better something else.
6) you didn't understand the Wharton mantra well enough, that would show in your essays and interview;

We all know it's just a stupid game and none of above possible weak areas will prevent you from having a successful career.

To Shuzhen:
Thank you for your protection. Wu Xinghua is my pen name.

To Chipmunk:
Yes, I agree it is a game. The key of the game is to have advanced training. So-called network, or making friends with those alumni, is big illusion. If you can not establish yourself in your industry, no foreigners will be your friends.

Moreover, MBA is sort of study. We are competing for the rights to pay money to a school. Does it sound crazy? Being admitted and graduated from Wharton does not guarantee anything, not job, not friends circle or success in the business world.

Somebody must have played better than me. But it is still possible that somebody is more to the taste of the admission committee.

I have nice contact with the representative but didn't visit the campus.
I studied mathematics in ECNU and my interview was good.  I meant good but I can't disclose further details because I have to protect my interviewer.
I believe Wharton is picking up someone that has long hands-on experience in the finance service, demonstrates leadership and innovation, and shows entrepreneurial spirits. I focused on these three aspects to differentiate myself. I once thought I was a great match for Wharton. But alas!

Anyway, career first. MBA is a supplement.
