选B，C  whereas是不对的，我记得OG还是prep里面有一题的，我去找找，

by 1997 预示着时态应该是过去完成时，a中我觉得如果改成in 1997 they spend nearly six hours a week就对了，因为用they做主语的话，就没法用过去完成时了，因为这个动作doing household chores不可能持续几年的，B用figure做主语，这个figure是几年一直grow，所以可以用完成时。

说的不对的还请NN指教，还有JJ总结中如果有不对的地方也清指出，我一定修改，以免误导大家

我认为选择B

A，spent是短暂动词，明显不能有完成时态，错误，they就近指代household chores或children有歧义；

C，用被动，明显有些问题；whereas表示然而，反之的意思，不符合

D、E的错误很明显，compared比较的对象不对等；that在逗号之后错误
