Well, let me explain the situation. I applied in R1. My recommenders
did not tell me that there was a one page limitation. (Senior people at
our company normally pay little attention to word count
requirements.) Additionally, the limitation requirement is not written
anywhere I could access. Thus, in my previous posting, I said "If the
school wants to ensure compliance from the applicants' parts, it should
have publicized the requirement on webpages that applicants can access."

On
the other hand, if applicants who have not submitted application
continue to ignore this requirement GIVEN that they have known about
the requirement through informal channels such as chasedream, they
would increase Adcom's workload without adding value to their
candidancy. Therefore, the behaviour should be discouraged.

Hope I made myself clear this time.

There is a 250 word limit for each question.  I'm not sure what you meant by one page limitation?

以下是引用elims在2007-11-27 11:22:00的发言:
please kindly refer to top floor (lz). thanx.

1. The school has made a request for the recommenders to answer three questions with clear guidelines on the word limit, not to write a letter with unlimited length.

2. If the recommender(s) decided to write a letter instead of what was requested, it's the applicant's responsibility to check with the school and see what they prefer, in terms of length and content.

3. It's the applicant's responsibility to select recommenders who can help the admissions office to better understand the applicant, help the recommenders through the process, and ensure all the requirements are met.  Failure to do any part of that is a reflection of the abilities of the applicant.

If the school is generous enough to accommodate what was submitted, despite clear guidelines, the applicant should be grateful, not to accuse the school of not publishing requirements for every possible alternatives to what was requested.

Good luck!
