topic 老师是不是应该与doctor, lawyer, business leader拿一样的工资?
"Education is an essential part in the making of healthful, rewarding life!" Franklin D Roosevelt, one of the transcendent presidents in the United States, is impeccable at this assertion that on no account can we ignore the value of education, which is brought mostly by teachers. Played a vital role in the majority’s lives, teacher never fails to put a far-reaching impact on people, and never fails to develop the society in a direct way. As for me, I am firmly convinced that teachers ought to procure credit for doing such a significant job, and they should earn the same salaries as doctor, lawyer and business leader.
First of all, teachers’' assist is closely related to one's prosperity and success. Spent a plenty of time with their students in school, teachers might exert a more profound influence on their students more than the students' parents do. Helen Keller-- a prominent American female writer-- is a proper case at this point. Lost the ability of feel the colorful world at the age of three, young Helen, nevertheless, did not lost her confidence. Why, you may wonder, where did she gain the power to live as a complete human being? The answer is from her private teacher. Her teacher stimulated her that "Adversity breaks your eyes, but not your heart!" Also, her teacher taught her how to speak, how to write, and how to communicate with other people. Fortunately, Helen attained success as a female "leader" and a famous writer; and her teacher spent time with her for more than 50 years to assist her! Consequently, we can conclude that teachers are able to aid their students and build them versatile people.
Furthermore, not only can teachers teach every individual how to deal with problems, but also can develop the technology and science personally. Throughout the universities and colleges in the United States, the majority of teachers are professors or highly insightful scientists. There is no denying the fact that some of them are even paramount inventors or Nobel Prizes winners. For example, Peter Salisbury, a professor from University of Washington, used to be an assistant teacher after he graduated from Dartmouth College. By teaching his students, he became interested in Hydrogen and Helium, and started to do some research on them. Eventually, he developed a new measure to produce Hydrogen, and his invention provided a new means for all the scientists to deal with fossil-fuel-problem. Therefore, it is conceivable that teachers' own effort enable the development of science, and even the society as a whole.
Last but not least, there is an increasing tendency that teachers work more hours than doctors, lawyers and business leaders. According a survey conducted by the Social Science Department of Brown University, teachers in the New England area work 42.1 hours per week; while the lawyers and doctors work less than 35.1 hour per week. Thomas Anderson-- an expert from the department-- points out that teachers seem to have summer holiday each year, but, they often undergo a more stressful time when the school is running.
Judging all the evidence provided above, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that doctors, lawyer and business leader need not to earn more than teachers. I hope teachers should achieve more salaries and respect in the future. Just as an old saying goes, give credit where credit is due.
