不明白的地方：but在这里做连词，连接两个句子,但except也可以做连词使用呀，为什么不能省略but单独用except in呢？在c中，but except in 的except又是什么词性呢？

except不能连接两个句子,排除ABE. 而且根据原文的意思,这里应该有一个转折的意思存在(是英国殖民地,但是却很少说英文,这个有强转折的含义)

C和D的区别:因为在某个领域,是in the domains. 我认为excepting是可以使用的.

本来想上来求证一下的,没找到,就把我的想法写一下,请NN指点!
