以下是引用大米饭团在2007-9-10 4:55:00的发言: 请问, COLUMBIA的中国学生中来自非传统背景大人多吗?毕竟COLUMBIA是以金融著名的.多谢.
I am not sure what you mean by 'non-traditional', do you mean sectors such as "non-for-profit, government, advertisement, publishing, architect, etc., which are "underpresented industry sectors" in business school? For this year, I guess you can say that most of us (those who come directly from China) come frome the financial service industry or used to work on a finance function (corporate finance dept of MNC, for example). Yes, Columbia is a famous "finance school" in terms of : 1. Lots of students (not only Chinese) COME from this area; 2. Lots of students GO into this area upon graduation; 3. Columbia's great location in New York City and very strong tie with the financial service industry in New York 4. Curriculum is quant-heavy and the school want to prepare you well for the upcoming summer intern/full-time job recruitment. But lots of students go for consulting, McKinsey is one of the biggest recruiters of Columbia students (I refer to full-time job offer). P.S. my knowlege/information on how active Columbia students are in other sectors are quiet limited so you might want to do your own research if your interests are with other sectors, e.g. management consulting, healthcare, real estate, general management, technology, marketing, media management, energy, retail & luxuary goods, and so on. Columbia has big-size student clubs for these sectors as well.
