但是为什么第一个是中间结论呢? 觉得第一个top executives evidently have faith in the bank’s financial soundness是evidence；those worrisome rumors must be false.才是中间结论。

bold部分不是evidence，也是reasoning出来的，所以是intermediate conclusion

注意第一个bold face里面的they reason还有executives "EVIDENTLY" have faith ...，说明银行头头们对银行有信心不是个fact，是作者推出来的，作者由什么推出头头们有信心呢？因为他们了解到头头们在买自己的股票。作者然后又根据头头们有信心推出传言是假的。所以第一个bold face是intermediate conclusion。

出题人故意把前两句话逻辑顺序打乱了来迷惑大家
正确的顺序应该是 银行头头买自己的股票-->头头显然对银行财务状况有信心-->传言银行要倒闭是假的 -->存钱的人心里松了一口气
