As you may be aware, the Wharton MBA program receives as many as 8,000 applications annually. In a pool where virtually every candidate offers significant work experience, demonstrates leadership ability, and submits persuasive recommendations, the Committee's job of selecting the entering class is extremely difficult. We are left with the unpleasant task of denying admission to many fine individuals who would, no doubt, succeed academically at the School and contribute to Wharton's standard of excellence.
Let me assure you that your application received a thorough review by several members or more members of the Committee. As a policy, we do not pre-screen applications, but give each candidate full consideration. The fact that we have not offered you an invitation to interview or admission should not be taken as a reflection of your intellectual abilities, personal achievements, or potential for a successful career.

I am not upset with this news but want to share it with your guys. I do not think my background is weak, maybe there are candidates stronger than mine. what is beyond my expectation is Wharton denied me without offering me an interview. here is some infromation about my past: work experience over 10 yeras with a higher position in domestic famous IT company in China, GMAT over 730, GPA over 3.5, TOEFL 260(5.5). my essay edited by a native speaker who was a editor. one shortcoming for me I know so far is that my references is a general form that is not specific as they required.
I was wondering if i was from fortue 500 maybe it would not be the case, but I asked members of admissions about this issue and was told they have no preference about what kinds of employers you have worked for.
Take it easy, brother. You might be accepted by some other great schools. However, I can not tell that your background is very strong, basing on your self-introduction. Good score and essay wording may not be the most important. It's very probable that there are so many excellent candidates having the same background(work experience...). Perhaps you are just a typical MBA applicant and the officers just can not diffrentiate you from others...
I think Wharton offer the feedback of the reason you are dinged. It may be a good idea to ask them the reason. To die may not be an issue, but not know why died may hurt ourselves deeply.

you are welcome! sigh!!! this is the first bad news for all CD applicants this year. i myself has no experience with banking or finance. i hesitated a lot before i turned away from wharton. i am going to submit my first application early next month and i am somewhat nervous about it.
