How much does age matter?

I've been working in industrial for 6 years after graduate school and no longer and much enthusiasm in my work. So I'm thinking to pursue an MBA degree so move to a different field.

I did some research and found that the average age of MBA students are 28, but I'm 35 now. So how much does the age matter? Is it a good idea to get an MBA at this age?

Thanks a lot for your input.

The chance is very slim. It is very very difficult to get in top B-schools with your age. However, there was someone who was 38 got in HBS according to the data the school released. So you may try, but be realistic of your expectation.

Do not worry. There are several good programs specific for your age. Check MIT and Stanford, alse NW.

Age may be a serious issue. MBA prefers younger applicants, who have more room to try something new and hance have more chance to be successful in the hot business areas which MBA schools value.

I just want to be realistic.

If the chance is very slim, I would like to figure out some other way earlier considering MBA application takes up so much time and energy. Especially, I'm not young and can't affort to lose another year.

Good luck.

If you have been in a senior level management position, you can apply EMBA.

It's up to you. MBA does not mean everything, especailly not success. Writing a understandable sentence is more realistic for you now.

good luck, guy.

Please do not be sarcastic, Yale-mba-to-be. Winterblast 's message came through after all, though his English may not be great. I am in America, and as far as I know, age is not much of an issue for biz school applicants, so long as you fall within the meaty age range (23-33,23-36, and so on). Please do not be discouraged, Winterblast, and proceed with your application. If I remember correctly, a 38-year-old got admitted to the MBA program at University of California, Irvine. You might want to seach for his thread on this website.
