gwd3-3 大牛求助！超级想不通的一道题，答案也五花八门

Scientists have made genetic modifications to cotton to increase its resistance to insect pests. According to farmers’ report, the amount of insecticide needed per acre to control insect pests was only slightly lower for those who tried the modified seed than for those who did not. Therefore, since the modified seed costs more than ordinary seed without producing yields of higher market value, switching to the modified seed would be unlikely to benefit most cotton farmers economically.

1. Whether farmers who tried the modified cotton seed had ever tried growing other crops from genetically modified seed.

4. Whether the farmers who have tried the modified speed planted as many acres of cotton, on average, as farmers using the ordinary seed did.

5. Whether most of the farmers who tried the modified seed did so because they had previously had to use exceptionally large quantities of insecticide.

实在想不通！大牛帮忙解答一下！

我觉得象是D.

A,B的other crops, C的primary crops都与原文没有太大关系，原文有杀虫剂用量，市场价值，就是没有crop的种类。

E很迷惑，我排除掉它是因为because后面的部分无论为真还是为假，都与文中结论的benefit没有关系。

D则不同，如果acres相等，原文结论就成立了，如果不相等，而且did not的acres高，那么原文结论就不成立。

答案是什么？我不知道是不是正确。

我觉得是答案是E      个人观点

ABC应该很好排除

D  是说那些使用转基因种子的农民种的棉花亩数与使用一般种子的农民种的亩数一样  这个应该没有影响吧  管它一不一样多

E  首先是对于most of the farmers 这里的对象和问题中的对象一致 switching to the modified seed would be unlikely to benefit most cotton farmers economically.       

      其次E是讲是不是因为they had previously had to use exceptionally large quantities of insecticide,如他们不是为了这个原因, 而是为了别的.

    比如转基因种子虽然使用的insecticide没有什么显著减少 ,但是 cotton品质变好了,价钱可以卖的高,这样的话对农民可以benifit

但是原句中without producing yields of higher market value不知道什么意思 ,没怎么把握准

但认为E最象正确选项了!

E：如果之前农民大众要花很多额外的杀虫剂的话，虽然现在杀虫剂的水平比普通的种子所需的杀虫剂的水平基本持平略低，那么也是ok的。

争议严重，个人在考试时候会选E。

请问斑竹这里E选项中的 exceptionally是额外的意思啊

我查LONGMAN里面是下面这个意思

我的意思是和普通的种子所需的农药相比，要多出很多额外的杀虫剂

exceptional是abnormal，extrem的意思E再说之前要花很多的农药

呵呵 反复又读了几遍题  感觉题目是讲围绕着amount cost  benefit 几个词展开  最后的conclusion是 unlikely to benefit~~~

所以evaluate的项目肯定要至少涉及以上的一项吧

所以现在看来看去就只有B了

没有定论。。。B确实有其道理，以前我也支持B的，呵呵，这个题总是这样的难缠
