I have a friend who already got her MS in economics at a middle level US univesity with a straight A transcript, 1300+ GRE score, 3 strong letters of references from American professors, a conference paper at AEA but she had been rejected by the UMichigan Eco phd program.

So, you should never regard youself as the only one with strong profile, you never know how competitive are those other applicants.

phd is hard though...

right, maybe they just cut by some level of GMAT or GPA

听说master的难度本来就比Ph.D.小，不是么？

我也有个朋友申的这个学校，目前他还没有消息，我想研究下他录取的标准，准备工作再申他家
