after you get Marketing Ph.D., it's almost certain that you will be in academia and work as an assistant professor for 5,6,7,8 years to get tenure, good things about it are that you can easily get 6-figure salary and once you get tenure you will be secure for the rest of your life, bad things include many years' hard hard work and the risk for not getting tenure. while being an accountant is another story. Yes, you can easily finish the two-year master program and find a job in the US, but the entry-level salary for accountant is low, around $30k-$40, I guess. Then you will do the repeated and tedious work day by day and expect an annual salary raise of 3%? The good thing about it is the so-called easy life, while I personally do not see good career path out of it. Then the question is "what do you want?"
