The lecturer makes further illustration about the idea of workers' satisfaction and motivation of their job. Firstly, the lecturer agrees with the reading passage that workers' motivation to their job have gone beyond the financial need. Pay and promotion are not the primary concern.
Secondly, it is confirmed that workers would like to have autonomy, a voice in the company's decision making, such as in goal setting and evaluation of products. To illustrate this, it is mentioned that in "inhuman" working place where workers always supervised by an unseen power holder, workers feel alienated. This is also mentioned in the reading. Thirdly, social features are significant to workers' view about their job. The lecturer cited a research to confirm this point, in which 8 workers out of 10 agree that social feature, such as the colleagues' personality, influences their satisfaction of job.
Another factor is the sense of security and community. The former means the pride about the quality of the product produced and the reputation of the company, whereas the latter refers to the recognition of their accomplishment and how their skill have been utilized. This point corresponds with the view in reading that personal features are important to workers, and supplements that recognition of the company is also considered.
Finally the lecturer recommends that the company leaders should bear these factors of workers' satisfactions in mind, improve these factors to rise wokers’ motivation, and thus reach a further efficiency of workplace.
