Don't hope to start any arguement that will touch base with any political standpoints. For my generation or older, people over 20 i would say, we have been taugh with Chinese culture in the education system. But i think nowadays the education has been changing..which i consider really sad since our younger generation can not learn how great and splendid our race was . Not trying to talk down anything, but the history of Taiwan island is less than ...150 years i think? But our Chinese history is longer than 5000 years..5000 years of glory of our Chinese, how could we not pass it to our younger generation and let them know that our race/gene can actually do a lot more better than what we are right now. For my generation, we all read Confucius and be immersed by our great ancestors.How great the Ming dynasty and Ching dynasty were. And how all other counties in the world presented tribute to our great Chinese dynasty. So yes, I of course consider myself and proud of being Chinese. Despite the political argument, we are all the same race, we came from the same origin. I am not sure how many Taiwanese people will have the same point of view of me. At least i found many people around me hold the same views. But, again, all people have different views based on their education background, family background. To state that I am Chinese, it's not related to politics at all. It is just purely from a cultural stanpoint. This is just something in my blood. And I oftentime found this connection is far more important than any other political stuff. Politics to me, again that just my view, is something people invented to IMPROVE our common people everyday living..to say it more frankly, politics should be sth to secure our common people's bread and milk and make our life happier. Not something to be manipulated by others into patriotism and cause discrepancy. Not trying to criticize anyone, just my personal 2 cents. For a small potato like me, all I care is to have a good living quality and also try to make my parents and all my firends hold the same quality. Nothing more than that. To reach the goal, Chinese (however you define it) needs to be stronger and stronger economically.
