Can I apply top schools?

I just came here, hello to everyone!

I'm 33 now, still working on my PhD in physics. hopefully will graduate in one or two years, but I would rather quit if I get an offer from top schools. got a master(physics) in US. I had worked for 4 years before I came to the states, as a supervisor in a manufacturing workshop of a US. company in shanghai. My GPA is low, both undergraduate and graduate level. some Cs.  graduate about 3.1       
But I and my wife has started a online company, no real business yet, but I think it is on the right track.
GMAT 740, Q 50, V40, AWA 4.5
That's all about me, can I apply some good school? or, what kind of schools can I be accepted?

first of all, 3.1 is not too bad if you are applying for business school.

second, if you want to look for financial reward only, law school may be a better choice since your english is quite ok.

third, I believe you have a shot in top 20 (assume your current school is good), but will be safe if you apply more school between 20 to 30

Fourth, of course you can always try MFE

Last: I strongly recommend you to finish your PHD degree. When you step over to business, your PHD actually means something.

Yeah! Finish your Ph.D first and work for couple years. Then, think about MBA.

Although I have passed the qualify exam and taken all courses, my PhD. is not going very well, I'm not sure if it can be finished in one or two years because our equipments have all kinds of problems.... I have a 1.5 years old daughter, I really want to earn some money to support the family, that's why I thought about MBA.

By the way, is it too late for me to apply for Fall2007? I was told that chances of being admitted in second or third rounds are slim, it that correct?

To quit your PHD, you will have a very tough topic to tell the School WHY - Why MBA, Why quit PHD. If you just say for money, you will get nothing.

To finish your PHD, you can work for several years and then consider E-MBA. I know several Chinese candidates for Wharton's E-MBA and they have quite similar situation as you, but are working now. I think E-MBA fits you better.

But no try ,no gain. Why not try to apply for top 10?

R1 and R2 makes no big difference. R3 is quite difficult.

I got my first interview and first offer half year before my final defense. If you want to solve your financial problem, why not start to look for a job now? Go for a MBA is not a fast solution.

MBA is a BIG money hole. If you wanna a MBA to better support your family now. I think that is 南辕北辙. For that goal, you can finish PhD as soon as possible to land a good job, or you can try to find job now as a MS degree holder.

law school年纪大的也可以么？ 听说都是早早读的啊。。
