219.       By showing that South Africa does not have a free market and is in fact a kind of collectivist welfare state for Whites only, Sowell argues that American conservatives have no valid ideological grounds to be in sympathy with the Pretoria regime.
(B) to sympathize with
(C) for sympathizing with

I think B is better than C.

192. Trying to learn some of the basics of programming is (the same as to tinker with a car when one is a teenager): some people end up going to engineering school, and others, twenty years later, remember nothing of the experience.
(C) like tinkering with a car as a teenager

tinkering parallels trying. I think C is better

194.    Discrimination in wages (paid in occupations that are predominantly male over the predominantly female have) given rise to substantial differentials between the wage of housepainters and secretaries and between the wages of parking-lot attendants and library assistants.
(D) that favors predominantly male occupations over those that are predominantly female has
(E) paid in predominantly male occupations over the predominantly female has

The answer given is E. I think D is better. Can anyone explain E clearly to me?

grounds for (doing) something
have grounds to do something

grounds for (doing) something
Mental cruelty can be grounds for divorce .There are strong grounds for believing his statement.
have grounds to do something
Did the police have reasonable grounds to arrest him?

192
the same as to tinker with a car when one is a teenager中省略了trying, 补全了是:
the same as trying to tinker with a car when one is a teenager
于是trying to tinker 与Trying to learn 构成对称。
而Trying to learn 似乎无法与一个确定的东西tinkering with a car 构成对称.
而且as a teenager在这里也无所指.

194.
D中
those that are predominantly female
occupations are predominantly female
favoring (the) predominantly male occupations over the predominantly female (occupations) has

1. have grounds to do sth.
2. sympathize is a vt.

192
to tinker paralyzes to learn
tinkering paralyzes to trying to learn

194 not very sure
the "are" in d  is awkward
a is wrong because the "have"

1. have grounds to do sth.
2. sympathize is a vt.

B、C分别是:
have no valid ideological grounds to sympathize with the Pretoria regime.
have no valid ideological grounds for sympathizing with the Pretoria regime.
