No:2 Does a zoo have no useful purpose?

Now people in ever-increasing numbers are beginning to accept that a zoo has no useful purpose. However, I wonder whether it is true or not. In fact, I tend to agree with the viewpoint that a zoo has some helpful purposes. For examples, it plays an important role in protecting the animals in danger, educating little children, and offering excellent jobs to animal lovers.

In the past few decades there has been a sharp decrease in the numbers of some endangered animals. If we do not adopt effective measures to protect them, some species will never exist in the future. A zoo is an appropriate place to keep them. Take pandas, the well-known Chinese endangered species, for example. Now in China, there are only a few thousand of pandas, Most of who live in zoos. A general survey conducted by experts reveals that pandas have difficulties being impregnated. With the help of feeders in the zoos, they can give birth to little pandas much more easily.

Of equal significance is that it has an educational purpose. The world is such a vast and varied place that there are amazingly massive numbers of species in the world. A child living in the city may never have the chance to see some kinds of wild animals, such as tigers, snakes, swans and so on. These animals can be easily found in a zoo located in the city. Thanks to the zoos, little kids can acquire some necessary knowledge to animals.

Along with the two purposes above is that some animal lovers can get a fairly good job in the zoos. I have a friend who is enthusiastic with monkeys. After he finished high school he tried to do various kinds of work such as a worker, a gatekeeper and so forth. However, it proved to be a failure. Eventually, he found a pleasing job in a zoo as a monkey feeder. Now he goes to work happily every day and of course does well in his job.

Obviously, all the analysis supports a sound consequence that a zoo has useful purposes. A zoo can provide a superb shelter to protect endangered animals, and a wonderful place to attain knowledge from. What’s more, it also supplies fantastic jobs to the people who love animals.

Now people in ever-increasing numbers are beginning to accept that a zoo has no useful purpose. However, I wonder whether it is true or not. In fact, I tend to agree with the standpoint that a zoo has some beneficial aspects. As listed below, it plays an essential role in protecting the animals in danger, educating little children, and offering excellent jobs to animal lovers.

In the past few decades there has been a sharp decrease in the numbers of some precious animals. If we do not adopt effective measures to protect them, perhaps some of them will disappear in the future. A zoo is one of the most appropriate places to keep them. Take pandas, the well-known Chinese endangered species, for example. Now in China, there are only a few thousand of pandas, most of which live in zoos. A general survey conducted by experts reveals that pandas have difficulties achieving pregnancy. With the help of feeders in the zoos, they can give birth to little pandas much more easily.

A child living in the city may never have the chance to see some kinds of wild animals, such as tigers, snakes, swans and so on. These animals can be viewed in a zoo located in the city. Thanks to the zoos, little kids can acquire some necessary knowledge to animals.

Last but not least, zoos produce quite a lot of superb jobs for those animal lovers. A friend of mine, enthusiastic with animals, after failing in numerous positions such as a worker, a gatekeeper and so forth, finally found his place in a zoo as a monkey feeder and now he enjoys his life there and does quite a nice job.
