一直在C和D之间犹豫

感觉基本是这样的：

A：Parking regulation put into effect－－－－》【B：Parking vialations increase(这是一个事实 there be 结构说明)－－－》revenue increase】

选项C：parking regulations －－－》revenue increase

选项D：【new regulations －－－> more parking violators】----> the city revenues will increase.

对于D选项我觉的【new regulations －－－> more parking violators】与原文是不符合的。原文中，new regulations 不会导致more parking violators，而是因为有more parking violators加上regulations才会导致revenue增加。

所以对D我还是放弃了。支持了C

根据您的回帖，我的领会是：D项有两处错误：

1、new regulations 和more parking violators之间不存在选项所说的因果关系（选项中有因果关系标志词cause)，根据原文，这二者之间是充分必要关系（原文中标志词if...., there be...)

2、【new regulations －－－> more parking violators】和 the city revenues will increase之间也不存在选项所说的充分必要关系，因为原文中的since证明二者是因果关系。

注意1和2之间没有充分必要关系,所以不能连起来.So D is wrong.但可以说a greater number of parking fines collected和city revenues will  increase 之间有因果关系.只有IF之类的充分必要词,才有充分必要关系.

A.city revenues will increase--->increase in the number of parking violations 原文不存在这样的关系

BDE.不存在

C.逻辑关系1.city revenues will surely increase和an increase in city revenues can be expected to result. 意思一致

C是充要关系.但基本道理上讲,应该不是充要,题干中没有任何暗示政府是为了增加收入而设置regulation的,所以C错.

理解了，但是lawyer您挑战答案了，这题的答案说的是D的，迷惑了。

I agree with lawyer.My answer is C. And there is a subtle detail that may be ignored by reader in the argument.The question mentions 'If the statements in the passage are true...' that means there would be two correct assumptions .

1.The conclusion, regulations(A)->the increase of city revenue(B), is true.

A->B

2.The reasoning process,regulations(A)->the increase of violation(C)-->greater number of parking fines(D),is right,too.

A->C->D

But, can we reason that C->B?

We can see the difference almost at a glance.No clue or logical connection in the passage proves that the collection of increased parking fines could increase the city revenue.

So option D is not right.And C, the converse-negative proposition of assumption 1, is right.

If the city council institutes new parking regulations, city revenues will surely increase, since studies have conclusively shown that, if such parking regulations are put into effect, there is an increase in parking violations, and an increase in parking violations will result in a greater number of parking fines collected.

I think D is right. 

institute new parking regulations->city revenues increases.( I think this is the conclusion)

AND THIS CONCLUSION IS BASED ON THE FOLLOWING REASONING:

new parking regulations->increase in parking violations-> increase in parking fines

AND I THINK WE CAN GET THE FOLLOING WHOLE REASON:

new parking regulations->increase in parking violations->increase in parking fines->city revenues increases

SO I THINK D IS RIGHT. WE CAN NOT GET C FROM THE QUESTION.

OPEN TO DISCUSS!

这题的原文只有一句话，说的是一个因果，从since开头到最后是原因，since前面的是结果，即：

    

因：new regulation －》more parking violation －》more parking fine collected

    

果：new regulation －》increased city revenue

    

简单的说就是因为可以收更多罚款，所以会增加收入。那么我觉得D是对的。

    

反而是C，我没有从充分必要的角度来考虑，我是从句子意思来考虑的。我读完句子，对C的理解是，只有他们认为收入可以增加，他们才会实施新规定。就是说增加收入是实施新规定的动机。而原文只是客观的分析了这项新规定实施后可能的结果，没有说city council是为了增加收入而实施这项规定的。

不同意lawyer的看法，

这里的1，2都是从regulation起因的。导致了两个结果：大量的罚款；收入增加

推论就应该是 大量的罚款导致了收入增加。（to be ticketed就是collected的类似）

答案应该是 D

如果这是一个纯逻辑题目, 我认为此题答案为C, 理由如下

题目的推理链不说了,

第一个推理说, institute new parking regulations ->city revenues will increase

前一个是后一个的充分条件, 那么后一个就是前一个的必要条件,

如果充分条件为真, 那么必要条件也必为真

选项C是这个必要条件的表述, 如果第一个推理链为真, 则C选项必定为真

 

选项D说, 如果city council’s new regulations->more parking violators to be ticketed为真, 那么city revenues will increase为真

注意一点, 文章中的increase in parking violations, 和 more parking violators to be tickted 是两个概念, 所以D是无关选项,

如果不明白, 我举例说明:

如果实施之前, 每个月有10个固定的人违章停车, 每人每月违规10次, 每次罚款10元, 共计罚款1000元, 政府收入1000元

实施后, 还是这10个人违章停车, 没人每月违规20次, 每次罚款10元, 共计罚款2000元, 政府收入2000元

法律实施了, 但是违章人数没有增加, 政府收入增加了

带入题目, D选项不是must be true, 因为violators的数量不是必然增加, 完全可以是增加violation的次数

 

所以, 因为这个题目的答案是一个纯逻辑的答案, 所以大家觉得可能无法理解C, 但是C是一个标准的逻辑解答

更加证明了, 狒狒的题目是lsat的题目, 思路和gmat有一定区别, 如果是gmat, 一定不会设置这样的答案

我再擅自改变一下题目, 帮助大家更好理解GMAT逻辑的思路就是和LSAT区别在哪里

如果题目问 assumption, 那么D就是一个答案, 因为D正好可以看做是连接两条推理链的一个桥梁, 是推理的一个必要假设

否则fine和revenue没有什么必然联系, 所以这个题目改成assumption题目, 就是gmat题目, 答案为D

如果题目是must be true, 就是LSAT题目, 答案为C
