Hi Liusha

Understand that the one-year MBA course is very intensive, may I know if the MBA students can go travelling / back home during the christmas or easter?

Between, any good recommendation for the college choice? I want a college which close to the classroom and has good quality of food.

Many thanks!!

Cheers/Carol

Dear liusha,

Some questions have puzzled me before I decide to apply JUS, would you like to answer those as follows,

1.  I heard from the web(http://baike.baidu.com/view/13714.htm) that “剑桥大学向来是以考试制度严格而闻名的,每科课程只考一次,没有补考的机会,考试如果未获通过,其结果只有离开剑桥。” Is it same as MBA?

2.   How to test each course? close-book test ,or open-book test, or submitting paper only?

Thanks a lot.

I am not sure whether it is right to other departments, but at least it is not true to Judge MBA. Yes, we dont have second time to pass examination, but the examination itself is not very hard to pass once.

We have only about 6~8 tests comparing to totally 24 courses (including both core and elective courses). Therefore, examination itself is not heavy burden to us. But apart from tests, all courses have group and individual assignments, which account for final grades.

As far as criteria of graduation, only overall grades accounts. Even if you fail in some courses, you still have big chance to graduate if your other courses have high marks.  Don't worry too much about tests.

Dear Liusha:

Again, thanks for your assistance and contribution!

I am reading other forums and informed that in the current OX MBA class, there are 84 Indians(including internation Indians), How about the situation in Cambridge? Heard in INSEAD singapore, Indian students are also the absolute majority.

This year, we have about 15 indians in our class, about 14% percent. Actually there is no major nationality in our class. JBS cares very much about the balance.

Hi Liu Sha and everyone,

I have some questions regarding to the post-MBA career and the program's reputation of cambridge and oxford (I'd assume both programs are in similar situation), pls help.

1。oxbridge MBA
5。印度人的比例是多少 (funny Q but it does matter)

Thanks in advance and really appreciate your info

Sorry for late response. To be honest, I am not very sure the influence of european MBA in U.S.. Therefore, I could not answer your some questions.

Oxbridge in many cases really matters. At least, it gives you chances to demonstrate yourself. But again, whether you find job or not really depends on your personality and prior working experience. I know some chinese of MBA 2005 have decent jobs in Europe. Sorry that I couldn't give you very detailed number of salary.

I would like to say something more about one year program, not only about JBS. If you really wanna big career switch, I would not suggest you to come because it is very difficult to change your career with such short program.

Good luck!

Hi Liusha

I am supposed to apply 2008 JBS MBA and I need your advice.

Here is my background : UK msc finance&management from University of Exeter.

3 year working expereince; Now I am wokring in a top 500 company. But most candidate and current MBA students have 6 years (average) or more working expereince. It is my big concern.

How is JBS' finance perspective compared with Said?

Please advice.Thank you!

I am very sorry that I am probably not the right person to answer the question since I didnt compare both in finance perspective. But theorically (i read some articles in businessweek in 2005), SBS is stronger in finance. I would suggest you to ask some alumni in SBS to find more. Good luck.

Hi liusha

thanks for your information. i have two extra questions

1. how accurate is the living cost estimated by JBS ?? i am planning to make loan from bank, but i wonder if the estimated cost is enough..

http://www.jbs.cam.ac.uk/mba/finance/fees.html

2. the interest rate in the loan scheme from hsbc is around 9%. i think this rate is quite high. do you know any bank can offer better interest rate?

Many thanks!!

Hi carol,

the living expense estimated by JBS is average level and it should be enough if you don't go to restaurent every day. In terms of interest rate, I am a little bit surprised such high rate. It is grabbing money from my pocket since I applied it as well. But I don't know other better offer since JBS only provided this non-cosigner loan.

If you want to attend party or formal hall, you'd better bring some dresses. But it is not mandated.
