Whales originated in the freshwater lakes and rivers of ancient Asia about sixty million years ago. Not until about ten million years later did species of whales develop specialized kidneys enabling them to drink salt water. Although fossil evidence shows that some early whale species that lacked such kidneys sometimes swam in the Earth's saltwater oceans, these species must have had to return frequently to freshwater rivers to drink.

Which of the following is most strongly supported by the information given?

正确答案: A

5.答案(C An overwhelming
proportion of the most productive employees at SaleCo’s regional offices work
not eight hours a day, five days a week, as do other SaleCo employees, but
rather ten hours a day, four days a week, with Friday off.
Noting this phenomenon, SaleCo’s president plans to increase
overall productivity by keeping the offices closed on Fridays and having all
employees work the same schedule—ten hours a day, four days a week.

Which of the following, if true, provides the most reason to doubt that the
president’s plan, if implemented, will achieve its stated purpose?

A. Typically, a SaleCo employee’s least productive hours in the workplace are
the early afternoon hours.

B. None of the employees who work four days a week had volunteered to work that
schedule, but all were assigned to it by their supervisors.

C. Working ten hours a day has allowed the most productive employees to work
two hours alone each day in their respective offices relatively undisturbed by
fellow employees.

D. Employees at SaleCo are compensated not on the basis of how many hours a
week they work but on the basis of how productive they are during the hours
they are at work.

E. Those SaleCo employees who have a four-day workweek do not take any of their
office work to do at home on Fridays.

A. Fossils of whale species dating from between sixty million and fifty million
years ago will not be found on continents that were at the time separated from
ancient Asia by wide expanses of ocean.

B. Among whale fossils that date from later than about fifty million years ago,
none are fossils of whale species that drank only fresh water.

C. Fossils of whale species that drank fresh water will not be found in close
proximity to fossils of whale species that drank salt water.

D. The earliest whales that drank salt water differed from fresh-water-drinking
whales only in their possession of specialized kidneys.

E. Between sixty million and fifty million years ago, the freshwater lakes and
rivers in which whales originated were gradually invaded by salt water

for the home reported that, on average, their profits increased during this
same period. Clearly, consumers are choosing to buy products for their homes
instead of clothing. To take advantage of this trend, we should reduce the size
of our clothing departments and enlarge our home furnishings and household
products departments.”

Hello, thank you for sharing...

This is the Correct Qtn for alyssa and john:

The share of John to the share of Alyssa is 5:3, the share of John is 50 larger than 5/9 of the total of shares of John and Alyssa, what is the share of Alyssa?

answer for alyssa and john should be 270.

If we say x is the total, then john would have 5 / 8 of this total,

thus, x(5/8-5/9)=50

this gives x = 720.

To then get alyssa :

3x / 8 = 270
