No, there is no big pharmaceutical company around Nashville as far as I know, and pharmaceutical companies always prefer metra areas. They will prefer to stay at NJ area, Boston Metra area and Seattle. But in recent years, traditional manufacturing especially Auto companies move to Nashville. They do not just move their factories to seek low labor cost but also their headquaters, like 2-3 years ago's Nissan and recent Toyota. I think Nashville comes popular in the recent years and is doing good. You won't be surprised to see LV store in Nashville but you can not find in the other cities at the middle part of States, since there are some well off people who enjoy states's examption of the income tax and stay here.

I heard that Vanderbilt is very strong in Finance. Some of their gradutes work in NY and wall street. About 10 people work in wall street each year.
