Just want to share with you some exciting things in Owen school that I appreciate so much, you may use them to answer the "Why Owen" question

- About right class size: average 180 students per year, a student body that is big enough to offer diversity while is also relatively small to give each student sufficient exposure to faculty and other resources.

- Great team work: follow the link I pasted in the previous message to read Sharran's blog about teamwork spirit in Owen school. From my personal experience, I appreciate the close-knit environment here a lot. More often than not, I worked closely with India, Latin American students as well as American students outside classes.

- Excellent and dedicated faculty:   they are experts in their own academic area, but what impressed me most is their committment to help students succeed.

- Variety of extra-curriculum events: the most recent ones include Casino Night (tons of MBA students gathered together in Owen lobby gambling all the night), Latino Party (a fun party for everyone), Build Habitat for Human community service, Pink Week / Race for Cure (fighting breast cancer)...

Thanks, those points will definitely help me! Are there any other strong aspects that owen has? like concentration, centers, future direction, etc.

回复:(jdmg)请问申请health一定以前有health方面的...

   Hi, jdmg,

I forwarded your question to some classmates who enrolled in the health care program, you can find their answers below. Hope this is helpful.

Reply from Asif:

The beauty of the healthcare program here
at Owen is that it is designed for people with no healthcare background. The two
classes – Healthcare Immersion and Healthcare landscape – that we
have to take in the first Mod pretty much covers the basics and gives you an
overview of the industry from a high level. The immersion class gives you a
framework of how things in a hospital setting actually work as you get a chance
to spend time at the Medical
Center through immersion
activities like a night at the PICU and ER. With the landscape class you will
learn where each segment of the industry intersect and how they relate to
Healthcare as a whole. The whole program though is designed around the
healthcare industry in the United
  States.

回复:(jdmg)请问申请health一定以前有health方面的...

    Reply from Sam:

I think Asif hit it right on the head – rather than any specific
experience in Health Care, all someone really needs is an interest in the US
health care system.  There are plans to expand the program to consider
international health care systems, but right now its US-centric.

If this person is seriously interested in the program, I think
you should put them in touch with either Larry van Horn (who’s in charge of the
program now) or Jon Lehman.  Either of them will be able to give a really good
overview of the program’s purpose and direction.

Last but not least, reply from Sharran (www.owenbloggers.com co-founder and bloger) - this message is actually to all Owen prospective students.

Good question! I am copying
Sam, Isha, Asif and Heather on this email… all of whom are in the
Healthcare program who I think might be able to give you more information. In
addition to the information that you get from these folks, I think your friend
should connect with the admissions office as I am sure they answer these
questions all the time.

I would also recommend your friend visit www.owenbloggers.com and read Sam,
Isha, Tyler, and
Asif’s blogs… and post comments/questions directly on the blogs;
that way the bloggers can answer the questions directly.

So, as I said before, please check the www.owenbloggers.com once in a while. You can not only get a much better idea of Owen MBA life, but also make friends with current students! Interact with us!

From the Dean

Recently, Jim Bradford, the dean of Owen school, visited a few Asian cities - Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei and Seoul. Visit his blog to "hear" and see highlights from all these cities.

The graphic gives you some hints on the geographic distribution of prospective students of Owen school.

In China, from 4 cities - Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
