any texts in that field were available"是指recent years, 还是a few dacades ago?

是就近修饰

就是说： 现在老师们面临着一个 以前不曾有过的问题，即以前他们的学习材料很少。

也就是说 以前材料少，现在材料多

Thanks. So " Today" in the next sentence and " recent years" refer to the same period of time. Right?
