“Our factory in Cookville is our most advanced and efficient. It is capable of producing ten drill bits for each dollar of production costs, whereas none of our other factories can produce more than seven drill bits per dollar of production costs. Therefore, we can reduce our overall drill bit production costs by devoting the Cookville factory entirely to drill bit production. Since reducing the production costs of individual machine parts is the only way to achieve our larger goal of reducing our overall production costs, dedicating the Cookville factory entirely to drill bit production and shifting all other machine part production to our other factories will help us to attain that larger goal.”

Discuss how well reasoned . . .etc.

4。第一，all the things are equal.作者assume了8年过去，所有东东都没有变化，更多的员工还是可以带来更多的profit margin。事实上以前适用的规律可能已经不再适用了。
    

第二，causual oversimplification,argument简单地认为员工更多profit却没有上去完全是HR的过失，可能还有其他的原因，比如说行业环境变化啊，竞争变激烈啊，客户品味变化啊之类的。
    

第三，（可写可不写啦）说说边际效用的定律吧，就说员工人数带来profit的增加不可能永远成立，到了一定的边际，效用就会开始下降鸟。。。云云。。。
    

8。好难哦，只能照套。。。
    

第一，gratuitous assumption,falsely assume that 将所有的drill bit production 移到CV，并将all other machine part production移到其他工厂就能降低总的生产成本，事实上并不一定如此。有可能保持一定比例的生产能降低成本也不一定呢。。。
    

第二，论据不足。不能单凭某个零部件单位生产成本的比较，就得出来这样一个结论。

4. 基本就按jojo的啦，不过在展开第一点的时候，我会举例，比如8年前公司是处于一个成长的阶段，公司的发展需要add employee with the skills and motivation to generate more revenue for the firm.但是过去两年，公司已经发展到一个稳定的阶段，如果自身员工的流失不大，那么continue to add employee，只会增加公司的成本no matter which level of skills and motivation the new employees have......所以过去不等于现在不等于将来。

第一，部分不等于整体。作者说降低零部件的生产成本是降低总的生产成本。实际上，部分生产成本的降低不等于整体成产成本的降低，因为“组装的成本”有可能因为某些原因而升高。

第二，gratuitous assumption。作者arbitrarily conclude 将所有的drill bit production 移到CV，并将all other machine part production移到其他工厂就能降低总的生产成本.实际上，作者是assume了CV生产其它零部件的所花的成本大于其它工厂，而且assume了这种生产分配不会增加组装的成本。（这两个assumption取非就weaken了作者的argument，不累述了）

不过偶对第8题有点不同意见，因为之前偶也想过组装和零部件生产的问题，但仔细看看题目，这是一个 chief production manager of a machine parts manufacturing company at a management meeting的讲话，也就是说这个厂本来就是生产machine parts而不需要组装的，所以似乎没法说组装成本的问题，所以偶才觉得这题特别难。。。不知道这样的理解对不？！

NO.8 我想也应该没有组装的问题，我的看法

1。gratuitous assumption： 如果cv的加工能力有限，不能满足总的生产量要求，则weaken

2。他因： 不一定是the only way to reduce costs, 考虑其他的因素

3。证据不足：即使drill都在cv可以成功，不能保证shifting all other machine part production to our other factories will help us to attain that larger goal。 没有给出other factory的生产条件，云云
