If current trend continue, by the year 2010 carbon emissions in the United States will soar to a level more than one-third higher than were those in 1990, according to official projections.

V will soar to a level more than one-third higher than that

X would sore to a level more than one-third higher than it was

X would soar to a level more than one-third higher than those

X would sore to a level more than one-third higher than they were

请教:为什么不用虚拟?than 后面为什么不补出动词?than 后面分别什么时候用that, those, it, they?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the mid-1920s the Hawthorne Works of the Western Electric Company was the scene of an intensive series of experiments investigating the effects that changes in working conditions would have on workers’ performance.

X to investigate what the effect changes in working conditions would have on workers’ performance

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A study published in British Medical Journal showed that women who ate nuts more than five times a week were about one third less likely to suffer from coronary heart disease as those who ate no nuts at all.

X than women eating

V than were those who ate

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The success of the program to eradicate smallpox has stimulated experts to pursue what they had not previously considered possible—better control, if not eradication, of the other infections such as measles and yaws.

V something they had not previously considered possible—better control, if not eradication, of such infections as

原句错在the other 吗?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first pulsar, or rapidly spinning collapsed star, to be sighted was observed in the summer of 1967 by graduate student Jocelyn Bell, but the discovery was not announced until February, 1968.

X The first sighted pulsar, or rapidly spinning collapsed star, was not announced until February, 1968, while it was observed in the summer of 1967 by graduate student Jocelyn Bell.

请教:为什么不用虚拟?than 后面为什么不补出动词?than 后面分别什么时候用that, those, it, they?

X than women eating

V than were those who ate

这里women who ate和those who ate比,完美。

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

原句错在the other 吗?

啊???真的吗?to be sighted对吗?

X to investigate what the effect changes in working conditions would have on workers’ performance

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first pulsar, or rapidly spinning collapsed star, to be sighted was observed in the summer of 1967 by graduate student Jocelyn Bell, but the discovery was not announced until February, 1968.

真的吗?to be sighted对吗?

67. mary has 2000 dollars half is saved in a simple interest rate, and the other half is saved in semi-annual compound interest rate of 8%. at the end of the year the interest earned from these savings accounts equal to each other. what is the simple interest rate.

1. 8.16

2. 8.23

3. 8.25

4. 8.45

My answer is 8.16.

正确的逻辑意思应该是: 现象是changes would have some effects on workers' performance(changes have effects on performance), 调查的对象是effects.
