Can someone help to explain OG11-4, choice A?

Can someone help to explain OG11-4, choice A?

What does it mean? Why ETS explains that it contradict the facts.

My understanding:

revoked policy of holding flights for late passengers in the fall of 1987(note the year is not 1988 when the worst on-time service occured) => not waiting for late passengers in the fall of 1987 => flights will be on-time => match "the best on-time service in the fall of 1987".

原文是要解释"为什么1988年有一条线变的不好了." 而不是要解释"1987年为啥十条线都是好的."

后者是一个文章说的事实.   楼主选的A没有解释前者.

Three facts are stated in the passage:

1. Jun-Aug 1987, P Airline best on-time service

2. Jan-Mar 1988, P Airline worst on-time service

3. Other airlines remain the same.

My understanding is that the question asks for an explanation for the above facts, all 3, not just 为什么1988年有一条线变的不好了.

The correct choice D explains 为什么1988年有一条线变的不好了

But choice A explains 为什么1987年有一条线变的好了

I am still confused. More 解释?

楼主列的1是文章的背景介绍,有个它才引出了问题.所以1不是问题的所在.

而且我也不觉得A能解释你说的1点.你做了无关的推理.因为"有或没有holding for late passanger"并不能推出"这条线的service好或不好",也就是这条线的service好和它有没有revoke holding service 没关,致少文章没说这一点.你由它解释1是做了无关推理.

不同意楼上的。题干中有两个事实:1、P公司在87年6-8月是最好的。2、P公司在88年1-3月是最差的。

备选答案中只要能解释任意一个事实就是正确答案。

A,试图解释事实1,但无法解释。A的意思:P取消了一个等迟到旅客的政策,即现在没有了,而其他公司从来就没有这样的政策。P公司同样与其他公司都没有这个政策(无区别)如何能解释P公司却最好?A错。

C、指出了P和其他公司的区别,解释了事实2。

I completely misunderstood the word "only" in choice A.

As shzzhengfan pointed out, P取消了一个等迟到旅客的政策,即现在没有了. Somehow when I read choice A, I understood it as P 取消了一个等迟到旅客的政策 only in 1987. That changed the whole notion of choice A.

A is wrong!
