hi gigi,
i'm a berkeley admit this year with scholarship, and here's my background:
stets: 750 in gmat, 273 in toefl, and 3.7 undergraduate gpa with significant leadership role in extracurricular activities
working experience: 10 years, with last 8 years in venture capital/private equity/investment banking in u.s./hong kong/taiwan; currently a venture capital principal covering greater china-u.s. region
post-mba goal: venture capital/entrepreneurship
not sure if this helps, as my profile/goal/reason for mba are probably less typical. i care less about mba degree itself and chose to apply to berkeley largely because silicon valley is a MUST for me both professionally and personally. spoke to two other berkeley admits and found they also possess strong interest in tech/entrepreneurship. may be coincidence though.
different people fit in different schools differently. the key is to find out what a school has to offer, why does that matter to you, and how you can contribute to the program. in my opinion, business school application is more like a love-matching process. how well you match can matter more than how good you are. that's why we call the ideal partner mr./ms. RIGHT but not mr./ms. BEST.
if you consider berkeley to be an ideal school for you, you may want to share your background instead so that folks here can help out. i thought that's why this forum was established.
good luck.
