Sure. I think so far 6 admits from mainland all took interviews this Feb. Some in BJ and some in SH.

jamiw75, from what I heard about Stanford, they tend to get students with different backgrounds. So sometimes trying to be different might be helpful.

A bad side of such policy is that if they already admitted a few candidates with background similar with yours, it would lower your chance.

Also, Stanford likes YOUNG people, and does not focus on working experience that much comparing with other top schools.

in Haas's 2005 essay questions, there is one about " inspriational leader"

What's the exact meaning of " inspiration leader"? is it the same as " role model". shall i pick up sb. that i really admire in my life or just some famous one?

I think some personal tie would be helpful. Actually, everything in your application should be personal. It is about you and only about you. who you pick wouldn't be that important, but rather why you pick him. Please make sure your application is consistant and you delivery a convincing story.
