昨天半夜打电话问了几个还没消息的学校

USC

4-15肯定会有消息,如果教授感兴趣,会在之前联系申请者.

[坦率地讲,秘书的态度很不好,我问有没有waiting list或者是不是已经发过first round offer了,她只有一句话,the decision will made by April 15.多一句话都懒得讲. 从内心里不喜欢这个学校.不知道这里有没有USC的前辈,不要打我喔,呵呵]

没有消息.

[打了几个电话都没有找到管事的人,感觉比较混乱.当然也可能是我没找到正确的电话.最后以一个无人应答的电话告终.]

UBC

我在waiting list上.

[秘书态度很好,说会帮我问问教授有没有做决定.然后今天早上查邮件时得知在waiting list上.大概本周内就有结果了.已经不错了,这个学校明确说rolling base,可是我的申请是在deadline之后才提交的.]

[没有waiting list. 当然也有可能是不方便告诉我.如果这样,真不知道拒掉UCB的朋友空出的位置他们怎么选.不过秘书的态度很好,我问是不是没有拿到第一轮OFFER的学生中有些人有priority, 她就呵呵笑,说我明白你的意思,但是我们没有排序]

CUHK(香港中文)

已经面试过了,是Joseph Fan到北京来面试的.

[祝愿面试的朋友好运.其实CUHK在亚洲的影响力不比 HKUST差,而且处于上升阶段,Fan和 Wong都是很好的教授,听说他们最近有一篇corruption的论文被JFE接收了]

BTW, I got an email from Georgia State Univ. last week.  I suppose that many of the applicants receive this email. Pasted below.

one?


(2) If you have not already committed to attend another program, do you already
have an offer (offers) for admission to another (other)  program(s)?  If so,
which one(s) and by when much you decide whether to accept the offer(s)?


(3) If we need to call you in the next few days, what would be the best phone
number(s) to reach you?  Also, are  there any particularly good times to call
you?


Again, we expect to be making admission decisions in the next few days.  Thank

真不知道拒掉UCB的朋友空出的位置他们怎么选.

some schools would rather leave the position vacant than simply fill it in.

Emory 早在2月初就进行过campus interview了，所以，现在没有消息，基本上就没什么事情了，我也是申了那个学校，他们一个assistant来学校开seminar的时候我去跟他聊天，结果聊到那么烂的一个消息（那时才2月中）。他们也一直不发据信，比较不负责任。

前年有一个申USC的mm，我听说也是2月初就有interview了，所以我觉得USC可能也属于那种招到自己人就不理睬剩下的人的学校。

GSU也给我类似的信，我回了他就没理我，不过我老师把这个学校排在我剩下学校list里面倒数第二烂，学校在市中心，没有campus，周围都是马路，我打算withdraw他了。

berkerly has a very very small program, and the placement there doesn't match well with the school's reputation. I didn't apply there anyway.

One Lawrance Brown at GSU can be equivalent to one entire faculty of certain universities.

Not hearing from Galen might be a negative sign, as I heard. There are 20 applications down there, and they would accept 0-4.

brown 确实不错，喜欢他01年的那篇JAR，8过他们学校management和tax的人很多，另外placement和学术水平不成正比，毕竟，一个学校的老师牛，和一个学校的学生就业之间还是不能完全等同。
