2005 witnessed an earlier and stronger interest, by the financial community in particular, in our MBA graduates for both
permanent positions and summer internships. Offers started to be made as early as December 2004, with peak activity occurring
around March and April 2005, or 2 - 3 months after studies were completed.
49% of the graduated class went into financial services and investments industry. 16% went into marketing and business
development, 12% joined consulting firms or started their own consultancy business, and 10% went into operations and general
management positions. The remainder went into other fields, including non-profit.
Although the percentage of graduates who found jobs in mainland China continued to rise (33%), more than half the class
secured jobs in Hong Kong and a few overseas students returned overseas.
Those working in Mainland China reported an annual average salary of RMB 288,000; those working in Hong Kong reported an
annual average salary of HK$473,000, and those working overseas reported annual earnings of US$54,000.
Summer Internships continued to be an integral part of the MBA experience, with nearly all the First Year students finding
opportunities that matched their career interest in leading multinational companies and financial institutions.
