Stern interview is not "blind" - interviewer is very familiar with your application, so be consistent with your essays. You've heard this many times, but it's true, the key is relax and be yourself.

I had a on-campus interview with a beautiful 2nd-yr student. Since she has read my application, she asked me directly about something interesting to her - my Chinese background, and my decision of chosing my job years ago, which eventually brought me to US. Then she asked about some detail and "small" questions about my post-MBA career plan, then why Stern. Last, she suddenly asked me a question: "what if you cannot get a job in XXX industry after Stern?" So when prepare "plan-B" type of question, please think about B-plan for both MBA and job hunt.

Overall, on-campus interview last for 30 mins, they have a tiny clock in the corner, so be concise with your answer.

I don't think I should further dely my MBA dream because of the inept government agency. If they don't give me GC before I go to school, be it! Life should move on towards what I really want to do...

If the last name is too common, it's more likely FBI will think you are someone else on their screen for criminal record or terrorist.
