以下是引用mbz在2006-8-18 11:33:00的发言: C) Many drug manufacturers increase sales of products to hospitals by selling these products to the hospitals at the lowest price the manufacturers can afford. The assumption (a very bad one) is: The company sells a large amount of the drug because it is effective. C says otherwise: No. The company sells a large number of the drug because the company is selling the drug at a very low price. Hence, C weakens the argument and is the correct answer. I just got up this morning, and thought about it again. My new discovery is that my original assumption is not accurate enough. The argument's assumption should be: Novex is widely used because the drug is effective. B) Most hospitals that do not usually use Novex will do so for those patient who cannot tolerate the drug the hospitals usually use. (the problem with B is that it does not mention exactly what percentage of total number of hospitals are using the drug. Maybe there are 100 hospitals around, and only 10 hospitals are using it. Then 9 out of the 10 hospitals are using it because their patients cannot tolerate the other commonly used drug. So B does not fulfill the requirement of "widely used" as mentioned in the assumption above, neither does it mention the drug is effective. ) But B can weaken the argument if it is changed to the following: The reason why 3 out of 4 hospitals are using novex is that many of their patients cannot tolerate the drug the hospitals use. C) Many drug manufacturers increase sales of products to hospitals by selling these products to the hospitals at the lowest price the manufacturers can afford. (I misread it yesterday. I feel very strang why ETS picked it as the correct answer choice. It does not mention the drug novex at all. Usually in the ETS' eyes, this kind of choice is not related, and hence is wrong.)
